Marcelle Hanselaar Video Interview

In this short film, Marcelle discusses her artistic practices and techniques, reaching that “crescendo moment” in printmaking, and the history and inspiration behind the creation of The Crying Game, a portfolio of twenty etchings acquired by the Fitzwilliam in 2017. The Crying Game is currently on display in ‘Bearing Witness? Violence and Trauma on Paper.’ Spanning almost 400 years, this display of drawings and prints explores some of the ways artists have responded to political violence and social injustice, and features work by the Chapman Brothers, Jane Joseph, Manet, Judy Watson, Kathe Kollwitz, Francisco Goya, and Pablo Picasso. ‘Bearing Witness?’ is on display at the Fitzwilliam Museum until Sunday 2 April.
